It's been a rather relaxing long weekend I must say. It started off with a bit of a bang and then mellowed from there. It was my birthday - my 38th for those who are counting - on Good Friday so I decided that it would be better to celebrate on Thursday night after work, just in case people were going away for the weekend. So McBrad and I rocked up to the Dolphin Hotel, the scene of last year's birthday actually, and over the course of the evening, friends turned up. It was lovely actually, because at any given time, there was a different set of friends there...some stayed for a drink before heading out for dinner, some came after dinner, some stayed all night and kept rocking on well after we had gone home. So it was the perfect chilled out evening that I was hoping for.
Friday necessitated a sleep in, whilst the exceptionally snuggly McBrad quietly slipped out of bed and fed and walked Noodle before returning home to take me to breakfast at our favourite cafe, Cafe Ism in Newtown. And then, we spent the arvo at home, me reading the paper and tidying the garden, McBrad working on one of two assignments that are due tomorrow. Poor McBrad had phoned around many of our favourite restaurants, trying to find one that was going to be opened on Good Friday...and none were! So he was quite despairing of us even eating on my birthday night. Thankfully, Mack rang me up on his way home from the city on Friday arvo, wanting to meet up for a drink. So I wandered down and met him on Crown St and we went into Trinity Bar and had a couple of shandies and a catch up! It's great having him back in Sydney after his year in Canada. But he mentioned to me that riding up Crown St, he had noticed lots of the pubs and bars were opened, and even down our end, I could see quite a few opened too.
So McBrad and I showered and dressed and decided to wander down Crown St and find somewhere that was opened and that appealled. We ended up at our old regular, Paua, which was suprisingly open. I think that a lot more places appeared to be opened this year...I'm thinking that maybe the credit crunch has encouraged more places to trade, even on public holidays in an attempt to make more $$$. Whatever the case, it was a lovely evening with my favourite man. The perfect way to spend my birthday.
Saturday was more of the same, however I did come home Saturday night and have a nice quiet evening watching dvd's. McBrad had given me a bag of my favourite lollies as one of my birthday presents (he knows how much I love my lollies) and sitting there Saturday night, I just felt like having a couple of the lollies. 30 mins later, bag empty, and me feeling less than healthy, I started regretting opening them. And then the sugar hit! The late movie came and went and it was 2am before I knew it!!! Needless to say, I won't be doing that again soon! The good thing was that it was a long weekend, so it didn't matter if I had a couple of late nights.
Sunday, after another nice sleep in, I wandered down to the Grumpy Baker and had me a long black, a Ham and Cheese Croissant and the Sunday paper...just the perfect thing for a Sunday. And then it was back to McBrad's, and off to the gym! He sure knows how to make me sweat (from exercise that is). The lovely DG had invited us over to his place for dinner, and so that was a delightful evening of great food and great company.
Today, we were back at Cafe Ism for brekkie with Con, one of our friends. And that's about it...a wonderfully relaxed Easter weekend. In fact, I don't think I've done so little in four days as I have this weekend past.
Oh, and the ever gorgeous McBrad bought me a lovely plaited leather bracelet, with a gold clasp thingy - it looks a lot better than I've described, trust me. And 6 sessions with a personal trainer! At first, I was somewhat taken aback - wasn't sure whether it was a present or punishment, but it's actually exactly what I need! I must confess to having lost enthusiasm for the gym of recent times and I think these sessions will get me back on the straight and narrow. If the trainer is good, I'll see if I can have maybe one session a week, just to keep me motivated. The Trainer rang me on Saturday to arrange our first session (Tuesday after work) and he's British! What a bonus!!! He's 41, gay, single, and reportedly quite good looking, so that should help with the motivation too! LOL But McBrad doesn't have anything to worry about, I still think he's the sexiest man alive!!!
So that's about it. Hope you have all had a marvellous long weekend!!!

Conflict...
I had to deal with conflict this weekend...on the one hand, I had some serious study to do, for my exam on Monday. On the other hand, it was a totally magnificent weekend in Sydney, with temps in the mid to high 20's (degrees Celcius) and perfect blue skies! It was very hard, let me say. But I did manage to get some study in and will be doing more this evening. Thankfully, my exam is at noon Monday which means that I can study some more in the morning, do my exam and then go to work. Work is very understanding in this respect.
Anyway, I went to the Noodle markets on Friday night, and met up with the very charming and thoroughly modern Colin. I had originally arranged to meet up with him straight after work on Friday and we were going to walk up to Hyde Park from there, however I realized that now I'm a step-father, I did have to go home first, feed and walk my Noodle, and then I could go to the Noodle Markets. So it was a somewhat late appearance by yours truly, and by that time, the queues for food were miles long! So, I thought 'stuff it' and just had a couple of glasses of wine instead! hic! It was a relaxing evening and after a few more drinks at one of his friend's birthday party in the Cross, I headed home via a less than salubrious fast food establishment! It always tastes soooo good at 10pm after a few drinks!
Anyway, Saturday was a more relaxed day, just Noodle and I really. I took her to a beach suggested by fellow blogger Mike. The beach is right next to the main runway at the airport so it was somewhat noisy, but Noodle loved it! She was a bit tentative at first, but once she had a small paddle in the shallows, she really got into it!
Today, I was determined to study study study however a friend messaged me with an invitation to the beach at 2:30pm and my resolved weakened seriously! It was so lovely and warm and the words were beginning to dissolve into one another and so I thought maybe a break was called for. And so a very pleasant couple of hours was spent soaking up the sun and chatting. Now, it's back to the grindstone. Noodle's been fed and walked and I'm about to get myself fed too and then, more delights of the Australian financial system, superannuation, post-retirement income streams and estate planning!
I certainly hope everyone has had a marvellous weekend!

Busy busy busy...
Yes, dear friends and readers, I've been flat out this week! Work has been full on (nice for a change) and so I've been exhausted when I get home every day! Not that it's the end of it for me...I'm a step-father now (to Noodle) and so once I get home, she needs to be fed and then walked so it's around 7:30pm by the time I can start making dinner etc. But we're beginning to settle down to a routine which is good.
I also agreed to go with my friend Jacqui to the movies on Wed night - we had free tickets to see "Brideshead Revisited" - a lush, beautiful movie, but thoroughly depressing. The musical score is excellent. Don't see it if you need a pick-me-up!
McBrad and I have talked a few times, despite the awful time difference, and whilst it's lovely to hear his voice, it also makes me miss him more!!! Only 10 days until he gets back however and I'm counting down every day!!! One thing I have noticed is that his Scottish accent has become much stronger since being there...I'm back to asking him to repeat every second word he says!
I did originally plan to take McBrad down to the beach house this weekend but of course, he's not here. I did think about taking Noodle down myself and having a quiet weekend, just chilling out, reading, eating, sleeping and gardening, however realized that I have an exam on Monday, and so it's head down, bum up studying all weekend! Grrrrroooan!
I was only thinking about McBrad the other night (now that's something unusual...ha ha) and how comfortable I feel in this relationship; more importantly, how secure I feel. I know that for the first couple of months, I was paranoid that it would end, that McBrad would turn up one day and dump me...it all just seemed too perfect and easy. But now, it really feels like it's a real relationship, one that will last. I still keep pinching myself that I've snagged me such a gorgeous man of course. It was funny, the other night (Sat) when I met up with my mate Dan for a few beers, we were standing there making commentary on every guy that walked past - there were some serious shockers out there, some fairly average ones, and a few hotties. The hotties were hot, but there was NIL interest from me - I admired them, checked out their nice pecs, perky arses etc, but it felt more like artistic appreciation rather than the lustful looks that I would've had in the past, pre-McBrad. I think he's HOT HOT HOT, even though I know he doesn't have the best body on the block. But it doesn't matter to me, he soooo turns me on it's not funny. It's that absolutely fatal combination of physical lust AND emotional connection that makes what we have just magnificent!!!
Anyway, you knew I'd have to have include a McBrad commentary - I can't avoid it.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!!

The week...
Well, what a week it's been! Not only a massively turbulent week for the global financial system (and the global economy) but also a very turbulent week for McBrad and myself. Obviously, as I've already posted, it's been a shocking week for my gorgeous man but thankfully, he's had so much support from his friends, both here and in the UK, (and I've gotta say, it was really lovely of you all to pass on your condolences and good wishes, via my blog, Facebook and sms) and so he's managed to get through the worst of it. The funeral was yesterday and he messaged me late last night to say that he was feeling better, albeit still very sad. So it's as good as can be expected.
As for my week, well, apart from the upheaval on Tuesday/Wednesday, it's been up and down. Thursday night I had a client event to attend. The Bank is the Principal Sponsor for Opera Australia and so the Bank and the Opera co-hosted the Opening Night of OA's production of My Fair Lady, starring the mighty fine British actor Richard E Grant. I took a couple of clients along and they loved it. I had a great time too. The production was fantastic and despite his lack of musical experience, Richard E Grant did a terrific job of Professor Henry Higgins. At half-time, it was a bit of rubber necking at the assorted celebrities which was rather fun, if a little juvenile! :-) Met up with fellow blogger James as well, which was an unexpected (and pleasant) surprise - the second time in less than a week - he certainly does get around! ;-) And the after-party with the cast at the Hilton was buckets of fun (and buckets of champagne too - hic). Didn't end up leaving until 1am which is probably not the best idea on a school night. Thankfully, we were officially sanctioned to be a little late and hungover, given that we spent the night with clients. I must say, the evening was a pleasant distraction after the previous couple of days events.
I've gotta say, I'm finding it really strange to be living at McBrad's without him actually being there. Poor Noodle still walks around, looking in vain for her daddy - she's missing him too. I think the worst thing is sleeping by myself in his bed...no gorgeous guy to snugggle up to at night, no good morning cuddle, no late night pillow chats. I miss his smile, I miss his conversation, I miss doing the mundane things with him. I just miss him.
One thing that I did do yesterday, to keep myself entertained, was to build a new garden for him. We talked about it last weekend as the back gardens have been ever so slightly neglected for the past 6 months. And so I had already decided to surprise him by doing a garden makeover on the smaller of his two gardens out in the back courtyard...originally he was going to be working yesterday (Saturday) and I was going to have it all done before he got home. Obviously, he's not here at all so the timeframe was a bit more relaxed. But I surprised myself by having it all done in a few hours. It looks sensational if I do say so myself. I do hope he likes it when he gets home.
Anyway, that's about it. A reasonably quiet weekend on the homefront - I went out for a few shandies last night with my mate Dan, and had brekkie with another friend Con this morning. My friend Jacqui is coming over tonight and we're going to have dinner and I'm going to show her a Pam Ann DVD which I've been raving about. So that's it. It's gorgeous weather at the moment, clear skies, buckets of sunshine and a light breeze. Perfect Sydney weather really! Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Long weekend...
Well, it's Friday and it's a long weekend ahead...Monday being, ummm, Labour Day I think. Not sure what it is really, but frankly, who cares! It's a public holiday and that's all that matters.
It's been a lovely week - I feel even more in love with McBrad than ever. I seriously thought that the honeymoon would be over by now, but it isn't. :-) He's such a gorgeous human being, as well as being thoroughly HOT!
Anyway, this weekend, the Sleaze Ball is on (as well as a plethora of other man-friendly parties). I've always been fairly ambivalent to Sleaze, though I do confess to a certain degree of curiosity about it. It's always been a "I'll do it one day" kinda thing for me and I'm sure one of these days, I will actually attend. But until that time, I'll let everyone else enjoy it.
It was apparently 35 degrees Celcius today...fan-flaming-tastic if you ask me!!! Though unfortunately, the forecast is for it to be overcast and 25 degrees tomorrow and Sunday! Terrible! But still, we've got Monday off and I'm really looking forward to that. It's just going to be a lazy weekend with my gorgeous man and to be honest, that's all I need!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Salad days...
Well, the weather has been sensational over the past few days. The weekend was spectacular, with gorgeous blue skies, light breezes and around 30 degrees Celcius. And it's at this time of year that I start getting serious cravings for salad! I have always loved salads...a love engendered as a child growing up in hot North Queensland where salad tasted much better than hot vegetables. And so, over the past week, I've been dosing up big time. Caesar salad is always a great choice, particularly with chicken. But my favourite is actually just a mix of green leaf, lots of corn, carrot, eshallots, tasty cheese (or occasionally feta), capsicum and boiled egg, with just a nice drizzle of home made dressing (my mum's recipe). I can eat a plate piled high with this kind of salad. And then some! Yummmmmmo!
Which is also quite good, going into summer, as I figure it's not so fattening. You may not think that this is such a problem for me, given my well documented battle to put on weight. Well, the battle is over I reckon, as I'm now developing a little spare tyre around my middle. It's a new thing for me, and the exercise regime that I'm following is pretty much just a weights only thing, no cardio. And so while I'm still building muscle mass, with my arms and legs and chest developing nicely, my gut has made its debut appearance! Eeek! So last week, now that the weather is warming up and the days are lengthening, I started walking home after gym. It's actually quite a pleasant time to walk home...there's still light in the sky, but the lights of the city are beginning to twinkle on the harbour. It's balmy and so I don't get too hot, even though I'm powering my way home. So hopefully, that will start making a difference to my little gut! I think I shall also have a chat to Muzbot as he seems to have been highly successful in developing a very nice flat tummy indeed!
Anyway, that's about it. This weekend, McBrad and I will celebrate 6 months together! How cool is that! Still amazes me that IT has actually happened - that which I'd been hoping for and dating what seems like hundreds of guys for - and things are settling down really well. I still find it amazing that after an ever changing diet of men for 18 months, I'm thoroughly enjoying my McBrad-only diet! I still think he's the sexiest man alive and can't keep my hands off him and just snogging him is enough to make me "shwing". He's just sooooo HOT!!! Anyway, I'm getting all hot and bothered here and it's probably not the right forum! Just believe me when I say, this is one very satisfied (smuggly so) Monty! But better still, he makes me happy, and I think I make him so as well (well, I do my best anyway). Saturday, he's working and I'm going to get up early (5:30am in fact) and go to the markets and buy up buckets of Oriental Lillies. He loves their fragrance and I'm going to put them all over his house so that when he comes home, it'll be rich with their hot heavy scent! But that's just the start of festivities. More about that to come.
Enjoy your week everyone! :-)

Veging...
Well, it's Sunday afternoon and I'm here at McBrad's place. We had a dinner party last night with a few friends - nothing new there. But one of them is a vegetarian and so this was something new for me...having to cook WITHOUT meat!!! Now for a Nth Queensland bred carnivore, it's just not an option to have a meat free diet. So it was going to be a challenge to make an entire dinner without any animals being killed and cooked. But, thankfully, McBrad used to be a vege and so still had quite a few vege cookbooks. So, a desperate scramble through their pages resulted in an Orange and Carrot Soup for starter (which McBrad cooked), a Pumpkin, Spinach and Walnut Pie with steamed brocolli and Cauliflower Cheese for mains (which I cooked). We bought a Mango and Cocunut torte for dessert. I've gotta say, despite deeply missing my meat, it was a rather pleasant dinner. All the guests seemed well sated at the end, 5 bottles of wine were consumed (this may have helped) between the 5 of us, and no-one was violently ill. So a successful evening from all accounts.
McBrad had to work today so he left me in bed at 6am (which is terrible - it's that time of morning when you really feel like snuggling with the very hot man next to you) and so I had a bit of a lie in, then got up, fed Noodle the leftovers (we weren't sure if she'd be up for a vege breakfast but she thoroughly cleaned her bowl so obviously she's not fussy), took her for a walk, did all the washing up and then grabbed some lunch and read the paper. So it's been a fairly busy day really. And thankfully, it's been sunny and quite mild today - a nice change from the downpours of the past 36 hours. Tonight, McBrad's taking me out for dinner - not sure where yet. It's been another lovely weekend really. I'm eating a slice of the Mango and Coconut torte as I type this and I've gotta say, it's better the next day! Yummmo!
I've also discovered Scrabble on Facebook, thanks to Martin at TGLATEOTD and so stayed up until 1:30am Saturday morning playing. I LOVE Scrabble! So I'm excited about that!
Otherwise, it's all good here in my life. McBrad will be home in about 30 mins time and that's something to be excited about! Hope everyone else has had good weekends!

I'm loving this at the moment...
OK, this probably seems very crass but I actually listened (for the first time) to the lyrics of Danni's first really big hit "This Is It" the other day and at the risk of sounding shallow, it's exactly how it was with McBrad and I.
This is it
This time I know it's the real thing
I can't explain what I'm feeling
I'm lost for words
I'm in a daze
Stunned and amazed
By your open ways
You smiled at me
And suddenly
The wheels of love began to turn inside of me
Hey, you said hello
Oh, I felt aglow
Right then and there I knew I'd never let you go
'Cos I know...I know
Oh, the touch of you
Is something new
Nobody ever made me feel the way you do
Whoo, it's heavenly
Oh it's ecstasy
The way you make me feel when you make love to me
Oh yeah...Can't you see
This is it
This time I know it's the real thing
and I can't explain what I'm feeling
I'm lost for words
I'm in a daze
Stunned and amazed
By your open ways
This is it
Oh yeah yeah yeah
The prose aint Tolstoy, but you get the drift. I love the upbeat feel of the song - I always feel like dancing to it - and because it says how I feel about McBrad, it's rocketed up the list of faves on my iPod.
Anyway, that's about it for this week. Having a fairly quiet weekend - dinner party on Sat is about the wildest it will get. Otherwise, it's sleeping in both days, coffee and bruch with the puppy and me staring blissfully into McBrad's eyes. Y'know, the usual.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Stunned and amazed

You smiled at me
And suddenly
The wheels of love began to turn inside of me
Hey, you said hello
Oh, I felt aglow
Right then and there I knew I'd never let you go
'Cos I know...I know
Oh, the touch of you
Is something new
Nobody ever made me feel the way you do
Whoo, it's heavenly
Oh it's ecstasy
The way you make me feel when you make love to me
Oh yeah...Can't you see

Weekend...
Well, despite the cause of Global Warming being significantly set back thanks to the hot air released late last week at the opening of the Apple Store here in Sydney, the weather has actually cooled down nicely. Bright sunny days, cool and crisp at night - as one of my English clients said, a perfect English summer!
And it was lovley over the weekend too. McBrad and I went out for a quiet dinner on Friday night at "Strangers With Candy" and it was very good. (and yes, that IS the name of a restaurant, believe it or not) We walked home afterward, popped a DVD on and snuggled on the couch. And I promptly fell asleep in his arms. How blissful is that!!!
Saturday night, we had arranged for a bunch of friends to go out for dinner - I had 4 of mine, he had 4 of his so it was a meeting of the friends to a degree as well. Great food, good company...and we ended up at Palms dancing the night away! Haven't been to Palms (or indeed out on Oxford St) for about 2 months so it was great to get out and have a boogie! But I do have to say, it's very different going out dancing when you're single to when you're in a relationship. My mate Dan, with whom I spent many a night at Palms dancing up a storm, asked me if I had seen George, a guy who he has the hots for, there that night. And you know what, I hardly even registered any other guys faces...I was there with my extremely HOT boyfriend and my friends and so didn't look at any other guys. Whereas, normally, I'd have checked out every single guy there!!! Ahhhh, aint love grand!
And can you believe, we hit the 3 month anniversary (though, technically speaking, it can't be called an "anniversary" because the word itself necessitates a yearly calculation) this coming Sunday! How crazy is that! It feels like it's been 3 years in some ways, and 3 weeks in others! The one thing I know is that I'm in love with the most gorgeous guy on the planet, notwithstanding the fact that all you married guys out there think that your guy owns that title.
And I know, you're all thinking, 'Oh god, we're back to more sappy happy pap about McBrad' BUT I think I did quite well last week in posting several articles that didn't include him at all!!! :-)

Incredible...
Just one of those things
When everything goes incredible
And all is beautiful
(Can’t get my head around, I need to think about it)
And one of those things
That used to get you down
Now have no effect at all
Cause life is beautiful
(Can’t get my head around it, I need to think about it)
Yes my dear readers, not only has Monty purchased Madge's latest album, Hard Candy (and is LOVING IT), but the words of "Incredible" are just about PERFECT in describing how I am feeling at the moment!
WARNING: The following paragraphs contain copious amounts of mushy stuff, so if you feel even slightly nauseous at me rambling on about how wonderful McBrad is, then please stop reading immediately!
Where do I start? I'm practically living at McBrad's - I spent 2 nights at home last week, the rest of the time at his. Went straight to his place after work Friday night as we were going to a birthday party of one of his friends'. That was a bit nerve-wracking, meeting his friends, but they were all very nice and friendly so it was a good evening. Saturday, we went shopping - McBrad recently purchased his house and so was needing a few bits and pieces of DIY hardware, so we hit Bunnings in a big way (along with most of the lesbian population of Sydney so it seemed)! And then, off to the Moore Park SuperCentre to have a look for a TV stand and some shelves - quite sucessful shopping. It was a quiet evening in on Saturday night, me snuggling with him watching a DVD - just my favourite pasttime at the moment! Sunday, we got to work on all the DIY projects - thankfully, being an Ikea aficionado from way back, I'm an expert at assembling flatpacked furniture and so whipped up the shelves in no time! After lunch, I went home as I really needed to do some washing and cleaning and needed to buy some groceries. I had planned on spending the night at home however he rang me while I was at Woolies and asked if I wanted to go over...don't you just love a man who can't get enough of you!!! As I was in grocery shopping mode, I suggested I make dinner, to which he agreed.
The weird thing was, the minute I arrived back at his place, I started feeling rather ill. Not sure why - I still don't understand and can't work out why - but by the time I served dinner, I was really not feeling like it. I forced a couple of mouthfuls down but then just raced to the loo and chucked the lot up! I felt like crap!!! But, McBrad, the gorgeous man that he is, was soooo lovely and caring. He suggested we watch one of my favourite movies - Moulin Rouge - which was very sweet of him and so that's what we did. And you know, no matter how awful I was feeling, being there in his arms whilst watching the movie was just the best! And even in bed, he was very considerate - I was going hot and cold and so when I was hot, I'd have half of me hanging out from underneath the covers over one side of the bed, but then when I was cold, I'd roll into the middle and he'd wrap his arms around me and snuggle close to warm me up. What a honey! What a man! What a boyfriend!!!
He let me sleep in yesterday and went to the gym - he was working from home yesterday - and so brought me some breakfast and coffee at about 11am. Was just what I needed...there is nothing better when you're feeling like death warmed up to have someone so wonderful looking after you!
OK, so I'm better now. Had lots of sleep yesterday and had a quiet night at home last night and slept all the way through. Missed him being next to me however. BUT, spending the rest of the week with my gorgeous man so I can't wait! I cannot believe how good this is feeling - everything feels right. It's amazing, everyone told me that "when it happens, you'll just know it" and "it'll happen when you least expect it" and you know what - they were all right!!! At the time, I wasn't particularly impressed with their advice, but in hindsight, they were smack bang on the mark! In fact, Bruce (with whom I've kept in contact) emailed me on Friday and said "Is it about now that we can all say, ‘told you so’ about waiting for the right one….?" and I had to reply "Yeah yeah yeah...enough of your smug comments!" - I could just see him smirking! But it's true! BLISSSSSSSSSSSSS...!!!

Long weekend...
I'm just back from a lovely long weekend away with my gorgeous boyfriend McBrad. I took him down to the beach-house and what a weekend it was! I must confess to being just a tad nervous...spending the whole weekend with him, just the two of us - it could've turned out to be a complete nightmare...or a complete dream! It was, of course, the latter! The more time I spend with him, the more I like him! He's a sweet hearted (and incredibly sexy) gentle man.
It was the perfect weekend to have down the coast too - lovely chilly nights which were made for snuggling & gorgeous warm sunny days! Here's a couple of pics that he took when we took Noodle for a walk on the beach.
The very cute Groodle (Golden Retriever-Poodle mix) called Noodle & I...
Me, on the beach...
So...so far, so good! Tuesday is our 1 month anniversary and we're going out to celebrate. Don't know exactly what we're doing, but I can't wait!

PS I miss you...
McBrad had previously arranged to go out for dinner with some friends on Friday night and I really needed to hit the books hard, so I decided to have a quiet night in. It was a good idea, as I had spent the previous two nights with McBrad.
9pm comes and I receive a text message: PS I miss you...
Do I melt into the carpet or what!!! Needless to say, the minute he messaged me that he was home, I was in my car whizzing my way across the Harbour Bridge for a joyful reunion.
Saturday night was my friend Ivan's birthday celebrations. Everyone was meeting at Green Park Hotel from 8pm for drinks etc, so I invited McBrad to come along as well. I drove over to his place, dumped my stuff and then we went to dinner. Dinner done, we were walking down Bourke St heading for the Green Park when he received an sms from one of his friends asking what he was doing. The friend lived on Bourke St so we dropped in and spent an hour or so with his friend and the friend's flatmate. We left them and continued to the Green Park - it would have been around 9pm by that stage and the place was pretty full. I offered to get drinks, so introduced him to Ivan and a couple of Ivan's friends and left him in their care. Waiting at the bar, I get a text message: Hey Handsome, don't be long! x
Do I melt again! This guy is just pushing all the right buttons so far! We ended up staying for a couple of hours and then, joined by my mate Dan, we head over to Palms to meet up with the aforementioned friend and friend's flatmate. We stayed for maybe an hour and then left the boys to continue their dancing! I had some alternative kind of dancing in mind which I wanted to try back at McBrad's!
Last night, I cooked dinner for us at his place and afterwards, we watched the first Harry Potter movie. I love that it's getting nice and cool at night, because he is just soooo good to snuggle on the couch with. He's actually very warm - a big, furrrrry (albeit very fit) Scottish teddy bear! This morning, as he was leaving quite early, he gave me his spare set of keys. Not sure if there's anything in it...I'm not taking it as a permanent thing - just a convenience thing - and I'll try and give them back when I see him next. But I'm chuffed that he trusts me enough already.
PS I did actually finish all the required reading for my DFP over the weekend...now to do the written assignment before I leave for Thailand on Friday! Eeek!
PPS I told McBrad about PC - it was soooo not an issue for him so phew! But I'm glad I told him anyway, it was stressing me and I don't want this to start off on the wrong foot.

Life's unexpected twists/occurrences/coincidences...
As I said in my previous post, I hadn't planned that much stuff for this Easter weekend and it worked out rather well. It's been an interesting weekend - one very different to what I would have expected, but life's little twists and turns are always good fun.
I had organized to have dinner Sat night with the Englishman I met on Tuesday however he rang me early in the afternoon and postponed it. Not a worry. I was talking to Mike, a fellow (and now lapsed) blogger later that day and we decided to meet up for drinks and dinner instead! So an unexpected dining companion that night, but not an unwelcome one! We had a great evening catching up - hadn't seen him since Fair Day and even then, I was somewhat distracted by The Tourist. So it was a lovely night!
Sunday morning, Jacqui phoned me to invite me to breakfast and so we wondered down in the sunshine to Blues Point Rd and had a very pleasant morning. I had decided to spend Sunday afternoon studying and I have to say, Financial Planning is very very dull. Who in their right mind would be a Financial Planner??? (and before you say anything, yes, I am studying for my Diploma of Financial Planning HOWEVER it's a work requirement. My employer wants us to do DFP so that we'll be more conversant with all the facets of the financial world.)
Anyway, as I was going to be home all arvo, I logged onto Gaydar to see what was going on. Imagine my surprise when I received a message from a guy I met last Easter at Stonewall on my big night out with my mates Baz and Waz. I was rather pleased because I had thought he was very cute when I met him but had not seen him since that night (and silly me never bothered to get his phone number). So it was quite amazing to receive a message from him exactly a year later - particularly because I don't think he remembers me (he was just a touch inebriated when we met at Stonewall). So we'll see how we go!
I was going to have a nice quiet night at home last night, considering I had been out Thurs night, Friday night and Saturday night, and so had settled down with some dinner and a DVD. 10pm, I get a text from my mate Ivan..."We are going to go to Arq and get drunk. We leave in 30 mins". And of course, I jumped in the shower, got myself all tarted up, met Ivan and proceeded into town. I've never been to Arq before so I was interested to see what it was like. And Paulini was singing there later on which was added incentive. What a night!!! Arq seems to be somewhat similar to "Babylon" from the "Queer As Folk" series in appearance and it was chokka block full of hot hot guys without shirts on! Met a few nice guys, indulged in some random snogging and danced my sox off! We didn't leave until about 5:30am! So another unexpected night and a fantastic one as well!!!
Today, I slept in until 2pm and then decided to go grocery shopping. Fantastic...all the delicious daddies were out in force. It was hard to concentrate on shopping! So it was a very pleasant experience!
So overall, a great weekend!!! A bit too much partying and not enough study, so will have to rectify that this week. But no complaints here! :-)

Sleeping in...
I love sleeping in. There's absolutely no question that it is my utterly favourite thing to do on a weekend! And when it's a long weekend, well, it just means twice as many opportunities to sleep in. Today, however, I was determined to get up at the unheard of hour of 9am! I even set my alarm to wake me at 8.35am to ensure that it happened. 8.35am came and on switched ABC Classic FM. And what did I do? I vaguely woke up, had a stretch in bed, and revelling in the delicious feeling of being under blankets on a cool'ish morning, rolled over and snoozed! 9am came, the news came on and I popped my head out from underneath the covers. 9.05am and the news over, I once again submerged. Didn't end up dragging myself out of bed until 10.30am! I am just hopelessly addicted to those long drawn out mornings in bed!
And it's been a lovely morning I must say. Walked down to the Grumpy Baker and had my morning long black with a ham and cheese croissant whilst reading the Saturday paper. (and if you remember reading my Easter post from last year, you'll understand how delightful it is to finally have found a place that serves H&C croissants over Easter). I've come back from that, finished my paper, caught up on a couple of blogs, and an email from The Tourist.
I'm just about to depart for a 2pm coffee with a nice man I've been chatting to on Gaydar. We'll see how it goes. I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I've been pretty quiet on the ol' online front this year, my time being occupied rather exclusively firstly with Mack and then The Tourist. Well, now that they're both in different continents, I've got back into the online thing, albeit not as exuberantly as I was last year.
And so, I had a couple of drinks with a lovely Englishman on Tuesday night, who, quite conveniently turned up on Friday night at the same pub I was at with my mate Dan. (OK, OK, I may possibly have let slip in an sms where I'd be) We're also doing dinner tonight so all seems good on that front. But I'm not sure about him...he seems very nice, he's handsome, charming, chatty and all that...but since The Tourist, my standards seem to have been raised somewhat! Surprising, given that it was just a 3 week holiday affair, but there was so much good stuff with TT, that I find myself looking for equivalent or better in every other guy now! Anyway, I'm giving this new Englishman the benefit of the doubt and we'll see how we go on date no. 3.
I've got to say, this weekend is highly unplanned...I've been just taking things as they come. I've actually started studying for my Diploma of Financial Planning - well, I haven't started studying, that is the problem. My first assigment is due 11th April and I've not even opened the book! So I think I will have to actually do some studying this weekend! UG!
Anyway, this is a bit of a rambling post...not a lot important stuff to report really!
Hope everyone else is having a great one! :-)

Catching up...
Well, it's been several days since my last post and I do apologize. I must say that the past couple of weeks have just been full on! I've not had a moment of peace - it's just been really busy! ...and it's been a good thing too, as I've not had much time to dwell on The Tourist. I'm finding I'm missing him much more than I anticipated. sigh...
Anyway, it was a very sunny, very hot weekend here in Sydney and this week is much the same. I did end up going out on Friday night...with John, the Risk Executive from work. Everyone else who had originally planned to come out bailed on me, and so John suggested a drink or two at Ivy. Two bottles later, we decided we should go to dinner and so we headed back to the office so that I could drop off my work bag (didn't want to lug it around the city). Needless to say, Monty and John, in the lift, snogging like our lives depended on it! Which is fine, except that there's video surveillance in the lifts...so now work has evidence of shenanigans betwix the two of us! Eeek!
Anyway, we had dinner and I dragged him to Palms, but we didn't end up dancing...too busy snogging in the corner. God that guy kisses well!!! We left around midnight but to our respective homes. He has a rule about “screwing the crew” and he’s understandably cautious about getting physical with me. Never fear, I’m wearing him down! He he he! But it was a lovely night out with him.
Saturday I slept, and then met up for a drink with a date in the afternoon. (yes, although I’m still missing The Tourist, I’m determined to move on) Saturday evening, a couple of friends were having a BBQ and invited me over, which was lovely, even if I was the only single there! And it was nice to actually get to bed before midnight!!!
(Just as a side point…what is it with all these couples who seem to insist on flaunting their “married” status whenever a single person is around??? I mean, I understand they’re a couple and that’s fine, I’m happy for them, so really, there’s no need to keep snogging, cuddling and canoodling to convince me they are together! Get a room, or better still, go home!)
Sunday, Jacqui had arranged for a bunch of us to go “barefoot bowling” at the Waverton Bowls club. There was a couple of her friends, some mutual friends from work (including John) and myself. The thing I love about barefoot bowling is the fact that you’re playing sport whilst drinking at the same time – how good is that! And due to the fact that it was brilliantly sunny and very warm, the drinking kind of got more attention than the bowling. We did that for a couple of hours before heading down to the Commodore Hotel for food and more beer! Muzbot turned up too which was lovely…our last chance to have a beer or two at our local as neighbours.
So, it was a fun weekend. But it was FULL. Yesterday, after my workout with Greg, I had an appointment with my very hunky masseur. God he’s hot!!! And extremely flirtatious! Dangerous waters! I mentioned that my next massage will be my birthday massage and he jokingly said that maybe he’ll do it naked for me! Yes please!!! Well, we’ll see in a couple of weeks if he comes through with his promise!
So last night after the massage was my first real night at home for more than a week! It’s crazy! And this week is just as full. Thankfully, I’ve decided not to do anything at all over the Easter weekend and so I’ll just be able to play it by ear and hopefully, do lots of relaxing.

Weekend...and Mack...
We went down to the beach house over the weekend - we being myself, Evan, DG and NSSG. It was the first time DG and NSSG had come to the beach house and so I was hoping that it would be a perfect weekend. Unfortunately, La Nina had other ideas and so it was raining all Friday and Saturday which meant that 4 guys had to hang out inside! We certainly kept ourselves entertained, with papers to read, Trivia to Pursue, DVD's to watch and food and alcohol to consume (and Jenga to challenge us late at night, after a few drinks). So we managed!
But Sunday dawned bright and sparkly which excited me no end! So, after a relaxing breakfast cooked by DG and NSSG, Evan and I indulged in a spot of gardening and thence to the beach! Evan, sensible man that he is, went for a walk, wearing long sleeves. Me, on the other hand, saw the hot surfer dude in the surf and planted myself on the sand in easy viewing distance, ditched the shirt and clad only in my Aussiebums, proceeded to read my book. Not that much reading was done, as the surfer inched closer up the beach toward me. Eye candy plus plus plus! He was HOT!
Time forgotten, Monty lost in pleasant thoughts of surfer dude in the dunes. 90 minutes later, he picked up his board and left and I awoke from my reverie. Unfortunately, with no sunscreen on, my lily whites became ruby red!!! OUCH! 'twas a Monty in pain that drove home Sunday night!
But, I was at home Sunday night, reviewing the pics on my camera and as I went back through them, the previous pictures I had taken came up on the screen. Pictures of Mack. And it all came rushing back...the feelings! I had deliberately not thought about him (not an easy task) since our breakup, but seeing him again on my camera just brought him back to the front of my mind. And I sighed... It's amazing how you remember every detail of what was happening, what was said, when looking at a photo.
I had actually organized to meet up with him last night (Monday) - we originally planned to go (and had book tix) to the OpenAir Cinema a few weeks ago when we were dating and so we thought, seeing as how he leaves this week, that this would be a good opportunity to say goodbye, as friends. Turned up yesterday at Mrs Macquaries Chair, where the cinema is, and saw him coming toward me, through the crowd. God, he's so cute, and gorgeous, and tall. We were there about 90 minutes early and so we grabbed some food, a glass of wine and chatted whilst viewing the sun set behind the Opera House. It was a delightful balmy night and it felt just so relaxed to be chatting to him. The movie started after sun-down, which was about 8.30 or so and there was a bit of a chill in the air. I foolishly had only worn jeans and a thin shirt, due to my rather painful sunburnt back. But as the movie progressed, I did start to get just a little bit chilly. He noticed and took off his jacket and gave it to me. What a gentleman! I gratefully accepted it as I was really starting to feel the chill, but then, when I had it on, I could smell him. Oh, what a rush of memories that gave me. I loved snuggling with him and lying in the crook of his arm, with my head on the top part of where his chest becomes his shoulder was the best, as it allowed me to breathe his scent in all night long. So the last part of the movie was lost in a daze of fond recollections.
I drove him home and we had a bit of a snog...but it wasn't a sexual thing, it was just sweet, gentle kisses, mixed with a touch of sadness. I'm not going to see him again, well, for at least a year or so anyway. And so it was a bit emotional for both of us. It's hard, when you find someone that you think had all the potential of being "the one", letting him leave your life. Even for a just a year. Who knows what will happen in the next twelve months. But one thing I know, we'll remain friends, and we'll both have a very special, very lovely few weeks of shared memories to look back on. Monty is a bit melancholy today.

Week One...
Week one of my new job has now finished and I must say, it's been a very easy week. The number of clients that I have now is about a third of what I was dealing with in my previous job, and so there's just so much more time to do everything. I'm actually spending time each day trying to find work to do. So I'm not complaining at all. I've rung a lot of my new clients already, just to say hello and introduce myself, but over the coming weeks I will need to start meeting them as well. My new job entails much more of the client shmoozing stuff which will be kinda fun...lots of taking them to lunch etc.
Apart from that, I have a busy weekend coming up. But the weather is splendid and so it should be a delightful weekend here in Sydney! Can't wait.
Hope everyone else has a great weekend too!

Dinner Party...
Well, it's 3pm Saturday and I've been up since 6am and I'm just a touch weary! I got up so early (which is so unlike me) as I had to go to the flower markets out at Flemington. Unfortunately, it seems that most of Sydney had the same idea...traffic was appalling - had to queue for about 15 mins on the highway just to get in the gate! Anyway, I bought up big and have done up two arrangements. One is for the table, the other is on my hall stand. I'm hoping that they'll last until Christmas, in which case, I'll take 'em down to the beach house.
I then went grocery shopping. Now I normally don't do groceries until the afternoon (my mornings are usually devoted to sleeping in and then getting some breakfast and reading the paper) and so I didn't know whether it would be busy or not. Of course, it's the weekend before Christmas so it was crazy! But I battled through the crowds and into Woolies! And then I realized why I don't go in the mornings...there's all these flipping old people doing their shopping! And they are soooo slow!!! I'm sorry to all the old people out there, but they have all the time in the world DURING THE WEEK to go and yet, leave it until I'm needing to rush around on a Saturday! Grrrr...
Anyway, I've come home, made the dessert, made the main, and prepared the entree. Now I'm half-way through cleaning my apartment. It's just so hot and sticky today that I needed a bit of a rest...hence this post.
At Campbell's request...the menu.
Entree - Lightly steamed asparagas spears, wrapped in smoked salmon, with shaved parmesan and a sweet balsamic dressing
Main - Veal Scallopine with a fresh garden salad and baby potatoes
Dessert - Brandied Apricot Trifle
I've got champers to start with the hors douvres, a nice WA Chardonnay Verdelho with entree, and the bottle I'm fanging to try out - 2002 Grant Burge "Holy Trinity" Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre - will accompany the mains. I've also got my last bottle of Lamont's Navera which I will serve with dessert. And of course, I suspect that my guests will probably bring some more wine and so I have a feeling that this will end up being a bit of a lush evening! Wahoooo!
Well, my rest time is over...back to the cleaning! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :-)

The Weekend That Was...and other miscellaneous musings...
What a weekend it was! I don't think I've consumed that much alcohol in such a short space of time for quite a while (and that includes my big weekends overseas). Friday night found Monty very inebriated and just a little toey after the first of our work Xmas parties, and with a willing Rick waiting at the Flinders Hotel, there was no stopping me. Well, apart from the fact that I had to stumble and sway my way from Pitt St to Flinders St...that took a while (yes, for some reason, I was determined not to take a taxi...don't ask me why, I had decided to walk and nothing was going to stop me). But made it I did, and so we grabbed a cab back to Rick's place and I fell asleep in his arms.
I woke up surprisingly hangover-free and rather early! Rick had organized to meet his personal trainer at 9am so I was up and ready to leave at 8.45am and feeling rather perky too! Strange. Caught a taxi home, had a quick shower and toddled down to my local cafe and grabbed a Ham and Cheese Croissant and a coffee and the paper and spent the next couple of hours pleasantly engrossed.
In the arvo, I popped down to my local flower man and purchased masses of flowers - it was, after all, Evan's birthday and a very significant one at that, which meant it needed to be celebrated with one of Monty's special arrangements. As Evan is a very carbon conscious man, McDreamy suggested that Australian native flowers might go down well. And so, although I don't think I do my best work with them, I gave it a go and they seemed to go down a treat with Evan! McDreamy took pics of them, so hopefully he'll either email them to me, or post them himself.
We then motored in to Oxford St and rocked up to the Beauchamp Hotel nice and early and slammed a champers or two before the rest of the guests arrived. A highly pleasant evening was had. Apart from Sam, I had not met any of Evan's friends so I was intrigued to see the kind of people he hung out with...all very nice, what else could I expect from such a lovely guy! But it is interesting when talking with someone who's known him for 20+ years and the insights you get!!! Muzbot turned up later on, limping slightly from his war wounds, wearing his "Third Place" ribbon proudly on his chest, and unable to wipe the grin off his face!
Proceedings ground to a halt around midnight (I think), with Evan and McDreamy jumping in a cab back to Evan's. I, on the other hand, was in a party mood - despite my excesses the previous evening - and so wandered down Oxford St...firstly to the Midnight Shift - dull - and then back up to Stonewall. Started chatting to a rather friendly Bostonian who was here for the weekend but then Rick rang me. He was wondering if I was going to come over to his that night. I was a bit tired by this stage, and despite my overtures to the friendly Bostonian, I knew it was going to require a bit more work before I got anywhere with him. Not being up for the job, I grabbed a cab and headed to Rick's.
So, so far, I've spent 3 nights at his and all we have done is sleep together (quite literally), apart from some very general play. I think Rick is a lovely man, and we get on quite well, however there's just not the zing with him. I don't feel anything deeper than friendship for him, and am very happy just snuggling/sleeping with him. He's more of a snuggle-buddy than anything else. He seems pretty content with that too, so I shall have a chat with him later this week to clarify things, and going forward, hopefully things will be good.
Sam was at the party on Saturday night, and as soon as he turned up, he came over and said hello to me and to the friend of Evan's that I was talking to at the time. And that was about it for the night, apart from a passing word or two spoken in a group setting. I must say, I was a little disappointed in that, but what could I do? I still had a great time at the party. But it was lovely that this morning, waiting for me when I logged on at work, was an email from Sam. In it, he apologised for not chatting to me and suggested meeting up for christmas drinks sometime this month. So all was forgiven! I don't know if there's anything more than him being friendly but at least we'll have a chance to have a proper chat, which we haven't done since I returned.
Yesterday, it was my friend Jacqui's birthday and so last night, James, her b/f and I took her for a couple of quiet drinks at our local, the Commodore Hotel. It was a lovely evening; pleasant weather, a couple of drinks, great company. Muzbot turned up for a quickie before he headed off to take some pics of the Australian Idol fireworks which look quite splendid! He's one talented man!
So it was an extremely social, extremely alcoholic weekend, but I feel very little effects from it, which is very unlike me. NOT that I'm complaining mind you. I had a marvellous time, particularly Saturday night!

The Calm before the storm...
What a lovely weekend! I had a smashing date with Sam on Friday night - we went to a nice little Italian restaurant on Norton St in Leichhardt (Little Italy for non-Sydney-siders) and then wandered back to his place afterwards and watched the original Hairspray on DVD - we had planned on seeing the new version (the John Travolta one) at the movies however Sam thought I needed to see the Ricki Lake/Divine version first. And I must admit, I really was feeling like a night in...snuggling with him on the couch, watching the movie, was a far more pleasant way to spend a couple of hours than sitting at a cinema.
He has one very bad habit of which I have become aware - he doesn't sleep in! Once he's awake in the morning, he's up and at 'em! Whereas me - well, the more sleeping in, the better! It's one of my favourite things to do on a weekend! And particularly sleeping in with a hot guy like Sam...mmmmmmmm! Anyway, a minor fault which I shall endeavour to work on...maybe!
The rest of the weekend was quiet and relaxed, which is probably a good thing, considering the insanity that's going to be my life come Friday, when I finish work for 6 glorious weeks!!! I think this weekend was the calm before the storm! Next Friday night, I'm celebrating my freedom with drinks (and no doubt more drinks) with some work colleagues and whoever else wants to join me! Sunday, I'm having a smallish soiree at my place for a few of my friends which will doubtless be quite alcoholic and, I'm expecting, reasonably loud. And from then on, it's the lead up to my departure and so it's going to be busy busy busy! So I needed this weekend just to get a bit of zen in my life!
Speaking of which, yesterday (Sunday) was a bit of a day for eye-candy! It was smashing weather, maybe 22, 23 degrees C and buckets of sunshine! After lunch, I wandered down to the park and sat there in the sun reading my book and enjoying the open air. And enjoying the three hot, shirtless, straight guys who were playing with the football. Yummmo! I assumed they were straight because their girlfriends were sitting in the shade cheering them on. Wenches!
And I discovered the joys of late Sunday afternoon grocery shopping. Normally, I do my groceries around lunchtime on a Sunday, however due to the abovementioned expedition to the park, went much later yesterday. Well, it seems that all the delicious daddies come out in force at the supermarket late on Sundays! The Lower North Shore is a rather straight area of Sydney - one can often feel like the "only gay in the village" - although doubtless there are still gay guys there. Well, I'm one; Muzbot and Tom also live nearby, so there's at least 3 of us! LOL Anyway, walzing around the supermarket aisles was a rather pleasant experience with all these DILF's walking around with their wedding rings, kids and shopping trolleys! sigh...
A good weekend all round. And it's my last week at work! Yay! I'm counting the hours left at work now which is rather exciting!
