Christmas is upon us and I have been very neglectful of my poor blog. In my defence, it's been BUSY!
Kylie was last Tuesday and it was a fantastic concert! She did an awesome version of Slow, and the audience went off for Better The Devil You Know and I Should Be So Lucky! But you know what, the best aspect of the whole thing for me was the fact that I got to see it with my gorgeous McBrad. He actually was studying hard for an exam the following day, and in fact, was going over his notes while I drove to the concert. He was a bit stressed about going, but still came along because he knew it meant a lot to me...and it did! Just a sweetheart!
We had our work Christmas party on Friday night...it was themed Bling. I went a little OTT (bet you're suprised by that) and hope to post a pic of my outfit soon. It was lots of fun, and despite my earnest endeavours to avoid drinking too much, I did! I hadn't planned on spending the night at McBrad's because he's not keen on me turning up at some ungodly hour, pissed as a newt. But, bless his heart, after the 26th sms to him, he relented. I left the part at 12:30am so it wasn't that late, but could I find a bloody taxi? NO! So I ended up walking back to his place (Surry Hills) which actually was quite good - gave me a chance to sober up a bit. Of course, I was still fully kitted up in my bling and so got quite a few comments on the way home.
Saturday, we hosted our first "Our Party" which was pretty exciting for me. It was a mix of his and my friends so it made for an interesting bunch - I think there was about 30 of so in total. Fellow blogger Mike made an appearance, as did my lovely friends Evan (though, McDreamy was unable to come along sadly), Dan and Jacqui. A couple of ghosts of Christmases past were also there - namely my first boyfriend Dane and PC - just to keep it interesting. And from what one hears, some of the guests got on better than expected! :-) It was a great night and McBrad and I both thoroughly enjoyed it and I think everyone else did too!
This week, it's been all about last minute shopping - wee giftettes (as McBrad likes to call them) to purchase and wrap and I have to tell you, I'M OVER SHOPPING! Bring on Christmas I say!
We're here for Christmas day and so I'm cooking my first ever Turkey - it's an orphan's Christmas dinner. Thankfully, Tom, our resident culinary king has come to the rescue with some cooking instructions and stuffing recipes! so cross your fingers that it turns out ok.
Boxing Day, my brother Mark and his boyfriend Sim, fly in from London for 3 weeks. So we're all heading down to his beach house on the south coast so I am hoping for some decent sunny hot weather! It will be lovely just to relax and chill out, eat, drink, chat, read and go to the beach. I can't wait! I've got a half day tomorrow so I finish at lunchtime. McBrad is collecting me and we'll be doing all the grocery shopping for Xmas dinner and for down at the beach house so that will be one last chore to get out of the way! But then, 4 days of bliss!!!
McBrad also asked me today if I would like to go to Perth in January to meet his brother! His immediate family all live in Scotland however his niece and her husband moved to Perth a few years ago, so McBrad's brother (her father) is out for a visit. So looks like we'll be going to Perth for a long weekend. I'm just a bit chuffed that he's wanting to take me along to meet his brother - it's like a bit of formal acknowledgement to his family of me being his partner.
Well, I suspect that this may be my last post before Christmas so I just want to say that I hope you all have a great Christmas! This is my first one with my gorgeous man and I feel so very lucky to be experiencing it with him. I hope you all have your loved ones around you for Christmas too! Big hugs to you all.
Monty! xxx

Dot Points...
. I passed my exam - received the confirmation on Friday! Yay! One subject down, 7 to go! UG!
. Collected the mail on Thursday night and there was an envelope addressed to: McBrad and Monty! Yes, that's right, our first ever jointly addressed mail. I was very excited. It was a wedding invitation from a couple of McBrad's friends who are getting married in January.
. There's about 6 large hedge-type bushes in the back yard at McBrad's. Before he left, we talked about removing them as they've kinda outgrown themselves, they're blocking all the nice sunshine and they also serve to make the backyard look smaller. McBrad sent me an email last week asking if I could get some quotes from some nice tradesmen types to remove them. I thought, in my enthusiasm of having done that little garden the other week, that I would try to dig them up myself. I dug one up this afternoon. I'm now ringing up tradesmen types to remove the rest. It's a killer - I've got blisters on my soft white office worker's hands and I'm exhausted!
. It's been really busy at work this week too!
. Had dinner with my mate Evan on Thursday night. We haven't had dinner for ages - between our respective schedules, work, holidays, other halves, it's been challenging to meet up! But we did and it was great to see him again. He and McDreamy are still going strong - 18 months and counting.
. McBrad is back on Tuesday at 7.10am! I've taken the day off! I'll let you imagine what you will about what I plan to do with/to him for the day! ;-)
. I like my job and my clients generally, but it's starting to irritate me when they ring up about the Government Guarantee of their deposits. The government initially provided an unlimited guarantee however is now changing that to limit the guarantee to $1M. Anything over that, they'll have to pay a fee to have the guarantee extended. I have had a couple of clients ring me and complain about how exposed they feel, with "only" $1M guaranteed and how dare the government make them pay a fee to extend the guarantee. I mean, seriously guys, be thankful you have a million dollars in the bank in the first place - the vast majority of people are lucky to have a few thousand in their accounts. In any case, there is very little chance that any of the banks in Australia are going to go belly up - the Australian financial system is quite robust and the banks are still very profitable.
. This post is a lot bigger than I initially thought it would be.
. That's it. Nothing more to say. :-)

Dinner Party...the next day
What a night I had! The dinner party was excellent; I really had a great time. The food - well, the veal was a little, ummm, well cooked shall we say. But the entree and dessert worked perfectly. We managed to consume 6 bottles of wine between the 6 of us, which is impressive considering that three of the party were driving and so the burden of alcohol consumption fell mainly on the remaining three of us.
But I think the best part of the night was simply the enjoyment of friendship! Four of the guests - Evan, McDreamy, DG and Jacqui - have played a significant part in my life in 2007, being there for me, supporting me, laughing with me, providing shoulders to cry on (figuratively and literally), and so it was very special for me to have them over. One of the guests was a new friend (and fellow blogger) Mike and it was great to see that everyone got on very well; there were plenty of laughs throughout the night.
I was exhausted by the end, but also energized and exhilarated. I love spending time with friends, and when you can do it in relaxed surroundings, it's just fantastic. I think last night was a great way to say goodbye to 2007 with those guys, as we're all going our separate ways for Christmas and won't all be together again before next year.
Today was the clean up and was there lots of that!!! But it was very worthwhile!

5 Fundamental Rules for Gay Men...
FIVE RULES FOR GAY MEN TO FOLLOW FOR A HAPPY LIFE
1. It's important to have a man who helps at home, who cooks from time to time, cleans up and has a job.
2. It's important to have a man who can make you laugh.
3. It's important to have a man who you can trust and who doesn't lie to you.
4. It's important to have a man who is good in bed and who likes to be with you.
5. It's very, very, very important that these four men do not know each other.
McDreamy emailed this to me and I thought it was rather amusing so decided to share it with you!

The Weekend That Was...and other miscellaneous musings...
What a weekend it was! I don't think I've consumed that much alcohol in such a short space of time for quite a while (and that includes my big weekends overseas). Friday night found Monty very inebriated and just a little toey after the first of our work Xmas parties, and with a willing Rick waiting at the Flinders Hotel, there was no stopping me. Well, apart from the fact that I had to stumble and sway my way from Pitt St to Flinders St...that took a while (yes, for some reason, I was determined not to take a taxi...don't ask me why, I had decided to walk and nothing was going to stop me). But made it I did, and so we grabbed a cab back to Rick's place and I fell asleep in his arms.
I woke up surprisingly hangover-free and rather early! Rick had organized to meet his personal trainer at 9am so I was up and ready to leave at 8.45am and feeling rather perky too! Strange. Caught a taxi home, had a quick shower and toddled down to my local cafe and grabbed a Ham and Cheese Croissant and a coffee and the paper and spent the next couple of hours pleasantly engrossed.
In the arvo, I popped down to my local flower man and purchased masses of flowers - it was, after all, Evan's birthday and a very significant one at that, which meant it needed to be celebrated with one of Monty's special arrangements. As Evan is a very carbon conscious man, McDreamy suggested that Australian native flowers might go down well. And so, although I don't think I do my best work with them, I gave it a go and they seemed to go down a treat with Evan! McDreamy took pics of them, so hopefully he'll either email them to me, or post them himself.
We then motored in to Oxford St and rocked up to the Beauchamp Hotel nice and early and slammed a champers or two before the rest of the guests arrived. A highly pleasant evening was had. Apart from Sam, I had not met any of Evan's friends so I was intrigued to see the kind of people he hung out with...all very nice, what else could I expect from such a lovely guy! But it is interesting when talking with someone who's known him for 20+ years and the insights you get!!! Muzbot turned up later on, limping slightly from his war wounds, wearing his "Third Place" ribbon proudly on his chest, and unable to wipe the grin off his face!
Proceedings ground to a halt around midnight (I think), with Evan and McDreamy jumping in a cab back to Evan's. I, on the other hand, was in a party mood - despite my excesses the previous evening - and so wandered down Oxford St...firstly to the Midnight Shift - dull - and then back up to Stonewall. Started chatting to a rather friendly Bostonian who was here for the weekend but then Rick rang me. He was wondering if I was going to come over to his that night. I was a bit tired by this stage, and despite my overtures to the friendly Bostonian, I knew it was going to require a bit more work before I got anywhere with him. Not being up for the job, I grabbed a cab and headed to Rick's.
So, so far, I've spent 3 nights at his and all we have done is sleep together (quite literally), apart from some very general play. I think Rick is a lovely man, and we get on quite well, however there's just not the zing with him. I don't feel anything deeper than friendship for him, and am very happy just snuggling/sleeping with him. He's more of a snuggle-buddy than anything else. He seems pretty content with that too, so I shall have a chat with him later this week to clarify things, and going forward, hopefully things will be good.
Sam was at the party on Saturday night, and as soon as he turned up, he came over and said hello to me and to the friend of Evan's that I was talking to at the time. And that was about it for the night, apart from a passing word or two spoken in a group setting. I must say, I was a little disappointed in that, but what could I do? I still had a great time at the party. But it was lovely that this morning, waiting for me when I logged on at work, was an email from Sam. In it, he apologised for not chatting to me and suggested meeting up for christmas drinks sometime this month. So all was forgiven! I don't know if there's anything more than him being friendly but at least we'll have a chance to have a proper chat, which we haven't done since I returned.
Yesterday, it was my friend Jacqui's birthday and so last night, James, her b/f and I took her for a couple of quiet drinks at our local, the Commodore Hotel. It was a lovely evening; pleasant weather, a couple of drinks, great company. Muzbot turned up for a quickie before he headed off to take some pics of the Australian Idol fireworks which look quite splendid! He's one talented man!
So it was an extremely social, extremely alcoholic weekend, but I feel very little effects from it, which is very unlike me. NOT that I'm complaining mind you. I had a marvellous time, particularly Saturday night!

Dating...
Some of you have enquired about Sam, the guy I was seeing before I went overseas. If you recall, I met Sam at McDreamy's birthday celebration - he's one of Evan's oldest friends. Just before I went overseas, we (Sam and I) had a chat. At that stage, we'd been out 3 times (including our first meeting at McDreamy's b/day) and there seemed to be a reciprocated level of attraction. But, we'd only just met and I was going to be away for 6 weeks. So, we decided that it would be better if we made no commitments; I would be overseas and when I got back, we'd see what happened. No promises about the future, but if the zing was still there, then well and good.
So, I rang him last week, to see what the lay of the land was. It was a very general conversation - banal even - and in the end, I simply asked him, "Would you like to go out for dinner?". His response, "I'm really busy at the moment, work is stressing me...are you going to Evan's birthday?"...(Evan's birthday party is tomorrow - Saturday - night) I indicated that I was indeed going to Evan's birthday. "Well, we'll catch up at the party". Needless to say, I kinda got the impression that things had changed somewhat for him. I was disappointed, as I think he is a LOVELY guy! I could see myself falling very easily for him.
But, what's a boy to do? After a very good chat with Muzbot, I was feeling much better and so I decided to get out there and start dating again! (now that's a surprise...Monty dating...who'd have thought! LOL) And so, I organized a date on Friday night and one on Saturday night. Friday nights...well, the less said the better. He was English and all, but a disappointment. Saturday night's date, on the other hand, was an Australian guy and turned out to be a very pleasant dining companion. We ended up going back to his place and he turned out to be a very pleasant snuggler!!! I actually slept exceptionally well that night, which is quite unusual for me. When I'm with a new guy, I tend to doze, as I'm enjoying it too much to sleep properly. But with him (his name is Rick by the way), it was very comfortable.
But, not being one to put all my eggs in one basket, I had organized a date for Thursday of this week...as 26 yr old who'd started messaging me whilst I was overseas. Now, I'm not really into guys that young, but he was a persistant one, and from his picture, seemed quite cute. So, I thought 'what the hell'! Turns out, he's exceptionally cute and quite a lovely guy! We only had a couple of beers and, very unlike me, I showed great restraint and went home! I could so easily have shagged him on the spot though!!!
Tonight, we have the first of our work christmas parties. It promises to end up being very messy, as we started drinking at 3pm. I also know that when I get pissed, I get very horny, and so I've emailed Rick and warned him that I may be ringing him some time tonight and inviting myself over. He emailed me back and advised that it was more than OK! He does seem like a really nice guy - his one drawback is that he's 5'8" and so shorter than me. I generally go for taller guys. A small thing, agreed, and as I said, he's a fabulous snuggler so he certainly makes up for his lack of height.
Tomorrow night, my beautiful friend Evan celebrates his big Four-0... needless to say, it's going to be a fabulous evening and I can't wait for it. He's a very special friend and an all round nice guy and so it's great to be celebrating such a milestone with such a great person!
Sunday, I recover! :-) So, it's a bit of a big weekend! Should be fun! Should be messy! But I'm loving being in Sydney at the moment! Wish me luck!

Long weekends...
Don't you just love long weekends? This one has been particularly good for me, as it's a 6 week long weekend but for most folk here in the Emerald City, it's a 3 day weekend thanks to Labour Day or something! Just having that one extra day feels so good! I'm afraid I consumed wayyyy too much alcohol over the course of this weekend, so today is my dry out day!
Had some friends over last night which was lovely; good to catch up before I choof off for 6 weeks. When they had all gone home (with the exception of Evan and McDreamy), I was still in a bit of a party mood. So, bless them, they took me out on Oxford St and we had a bit of a dance! It was a fabulous feeling I must say. I was only a little tipsy at this stage, and the three of us were on the dance floor full of guys, Go West (PSB) was blaring out and I suddenly had this realisation that exactly one year ago, I had come out to my brother Mark in London! I regard telling him as my official "coming out" date and so, here on my first anniversary, I was dancing with my two wonderful friends Evan and McDreamy in a gay club in Sydney and loving every minute of it! It's difficult to describe here, but it just felt really right. I feel like I have finally found my place in this world and despite the traumas of the past year, I have no regrets in completely turning my life upside down and coming out.

Where's the week gone...?`
I'm exhausted! This week has flown past and I've been absolutely flat out! It's been a fun week, but I still can't quite believe that it's Thursday night already! I've been going flat strap at work and I'm still struggling to finish everything I need to before COB tomorrow...but finish it I will.
It was great to meet up with Evan, McDreamy and Muzbot on Tuesday night - my three favourite friends in one place - how good can it get! Evan and McDreamy left around 9pm and then Muz and I got down to seriously deep stuff; we started talking about my parents' reaction to my coming out and even though it's been almost a year since then, it's still a topic that gets me emotional. I don't think Muz was expecting quite the reaction that I had, and to be honest, neither did I. I've been always quite good at compartmentalising my life, and so I generally just try not to think about my parents because it is still a very painful issue for me. But when I discussed it with my friend Jacqui several weeks ago, I burst into tears in the middle of Bar 333 on George St - not exactly what a 36 yr old guy would normally do. However, because I'd had this release, I thought when I was talking about it with Muz that I'd be in a better position to cope with it...but apparently not! But it was still good to talk to him about it, and I really appreciated his support. So the night was a really good one for me.
Last night, I caught up with C3 - he's been in the Simpson desert for the past couple of weeks and this was actually the first time we've met up face to face since we broke up. But it was really good actually - had some laughs and I caught him up on my past few weeks (Bruce and Sam).
And today, worked my arse off...didn't leave work until 8pm which is appalling for me! BUT only ONE DAY TO GO!!!!! And then I'm on holidays! Yay! Can't wait!
Back into it...with a vengeance...!
During the week, I actually realized that I did have a backup plan - I just hadn't really thought about it as such. I met Harry months ago - during my slutty summer in fact - and we had a one night thing. He's quite an attractive English guy, about 5'11", reddish blonde, a bit reserved, here with work. He was not interested in relationships as such, which suited me fine in summer - it was a bit of fun and that was it. He very coincidentally sms'd me a couple of weeks ago, suggesting we meet up again and I had put him off (as I was deeply into Bruce at that stage). So it was simply a matter of texting him and lo and behold, he was on my door step Friday night! Wahooo! Drought broken! (well, maybe not exactly a drought, more just a 4 week dry spell)
Saturday, I was having a lazy'ish arvo at home, reading the paper when my friend DG rang and asked if I felt like going for a drive. It was a gorgeous day outside and so I was more than happy to do so. He rocked up in his brand new convertible Audi TT!!! Sensational!!! The top was down and we were motoring all over the North Shore, looking fabulous and enjoying the buckets of sunshine (and the admiring, if slightly envious, glances of fellow motorists)! It was a great afternoon; and it was lovely to catch up with him as well!
So an action (in more ways than one) packed weekend for Monty - good food, good friends, good shags and plenty of alcohol! Who could want for more? :-) he he he! I'm certainly back into it - with a vengeance. I think a slutty couple of weeks before I hit Europe is on the cards! Wahooooo!

APEC Long Weekend...
It's now Friday and I'm only just getting to last weekend's activities. My lovely friend McDreamy has already done a post about the weekend so suggest you read that. But I must say, it was a fantastic weekend - so good just to get out of Sydney with two wonderful guys and relax big time at the beach house! We ate, drank, slept, and relished the excellent weather! Gloriously sunny days spent lying in the sun reading papers, playing Trivial Pursuit and of course, mountain bike riding through the Conjola National Park!

Highlights of the weekend:
1. Biking through the national park and getting nice and muddy! McDreamy's virgin bike got well and truly initiated!
2. Discovering that despite our very diverse backgrounds (me - finance, McDreamy - medical and Evan - design), we were very evenly matched at Trivial Pursuit! We all have our strengths of course, but my big weakness is SPORT! I'm crap at it - not surprisingly, McDreamy and Evan exploited that to the hilt! lol
3. Going to sleep on Friday night with the rain thundering down on the roof!
4. Waking up Saturday and the skies were blue and the sun was warm!
5. Spending time with two of my favourite friends!

I got some awesome photos on my new camera, but thanks to my useless PC, I can't upload them yet. I'm taking the PC into a man on the weekend who'll hopefully fix it and so as soon as it's done, I'll download them and post some!
Now, back to my Get-Monty-Laid-Mission! Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Birthday McDreamy...
It's my dear friend McDreamy's birthday today so feel free to drop on by his blog to read his story and wish him well. He's become, in a very short space of time, a big part of my life. He's my doctor, the boyfriend of my lovely friend Evan, and a good mate - and his musical taste is very similar to mine (which poor Evan has to cope with, with such good grace and humour) which makes for lots of fun whenever we go away for the weekend! :-)
Love ya to bits McDreamy - hope you had a lovely night last night, a great week ahead, and an even better 38th year!!!
Monty! xxx

Monday Bloody Monday...
The weekend has come and gone and I'm sitting wondering what happened! Why is it that the week drags ever so slooooooowly and then the weekend flies by in a wink!
Anyway, here in Sydney last week, we enjoyed somewhat of an Indian summer, with temperatures hitting 25 degrees Celcius over the weekend! And buckets of sunshine! Perfect weather, but highly unusual for the middle of winter! Today, it seems like the weather remembered it was winter for the chills hit big time!!!
Anyway, the weekend was a bit up and down for me...some really good bits, and some just average bits. The weather, as I mentioned, was awesome! Early Saturday arvo, I met up with one of my readers, one of my adoring public! ha ha ha! It was great to meet him, exchange some stories, clarify a few details and to put a face to his otherwise quite elusive identity. Then had a date with a guy that I had been chatting to on Gaydar - was OK...nothing to write home about (or even blog about) - nice guy but no sparks.
I was in a strange mood late Saturday arvo...really felt like some serious beer drinking, so purchased myself some beer, got home and received a text. It was my mate Muzbot and an invitation to the Commodore for...yes, you guessed it...a beer (or two). Perfect. Another excellent night spent with a good mate, drinking beer and chatting! Sensational!
Sunday was interesting. Once I dragged myself out of bed, I received a text from the guy that I previously met a few weeks ago at the Stonewall. He suggested a coffee in the arvo which worked well for me, needed coffee after the amount of alcohol consumed the previous night! Unfortunately (well, actually, rather fortunately) we never got to the cafe! tee hee hee Afterwards, raced home, had a quick shower and then met up with the smiling Evan and his ever so sober boyfriend McDreamy at the Commodore for a late arvo drink...beer for me, LLB for the boys! Sat outside on the terrace and progressively got colder as the sun sank beneath the horizon until I could stand it no more. But it was great to catch up with them; as always, an interesting and informative chat and a highly enjoyable time!
So a bit of a mixed bag for a weekend, but still, I can't complain. What's the point, no one will listen anyway! Hope everyone has a great week!

Pics...
Pictures are going up on blogs left right and centre at the moment...check out McDreamy's blog and Pedestrian Fair's blog - both have posted recent and 80's pics! I'm a HUGE fan of this.
I must say, now that I've posted a couple of face pics, I'm a lot less nervous about posting more. And seeing as how I've met quite a few bloggers in person now, there seems less reason to hide my face! So, be prepared readers, for more of Monty!
Anyhoo (picked that expression up from Muzbot), met up with fellow blogger Tom last night and we watched The Simpson's Movie - me for the first time, and Tom for the second time. Sensational! I love the Simpsons and this was just 90 minutes of pure Simpsons WITHOUT ads! How good does it get!!! Sensational! And it was great to catch up with Tom as well, as always.
Tonight is C3's birthday dinner. We're going up to The Summit Bar on top of Australia Square for drinks (and I'm meeting 4 of his friends which is kinda scary) and then having dinner in the restaurant there as well. I've not been to the top of Australia Square since 1980 when we came to Sydney on a family holiday. At the time, it was the highest building in Sydney. Not anymore, but I'm still looking forward to going back up! And to the dinner. I'm a bit nervous about meeting his friends. Hope they like me! Hope I like them!

Monty's Miscellaneous Musings...
Lots of little stuff really, nothing of any dramatic importance, so don't get too excited.
I'm in a rather strange mood today...not sure why. I borrowed the Pet Shop Boys DVD Pop Art off McDreamy on Friday and seeing as how it was a bit cold and overcast this morning, watched 40 of their videos from their very first one (East End Girls) to their quite recent ones (London, Home and Dry etc). I'm not normally a guy who watches TV or DVD's during the day, I always feel like I'm wasting the day do so. However, today I made an exception for the Boys. They are an incredibly talented duo and all of their videos are such pieces of art! It's amazing how long they have been going for and the fact that they can still be relevant! The lyrics in some of the songs just get me - I love that when a song just speaks to you and so many of theirs do!
I also went on a date last night - a Californian guy (which we - Jacqui, James and myself - call C3. This distinguishes him from The Original Californian - The OC - and another Californian that I had a couple of dates with back in March - NewC). So I met C3 at the Newtown Hotel for a couple of drinks and I've not actually been to the Newtown on a Saturday night...they play sensational music...all very gay, very daggy, very awesome pop! Felt relaxed with him straight away and the conversation was very easy. Found a little pizza place and had dinner with a lovely bottle of Brown Brothers Tarango. Dessert...well, let's just say that we went back to his place and I was it! ;-) OK, OK, I know, how very slutty of me on a first date, but hey, it's been 3 whole weeks since my last shag...it was killing me! It was a lovely night and C3 is a really great guy. He wants to see me again, and I wouldn't mind seeing him either, so we'll probably go out next Saturday night. He's just texted me and told me to keep August 2 free. He then texted me to say "Hope you're not afraid of heights"...what the...? Now I'm intrigued! For the record, I'm not afraid of heights, but the mind boggles as to what he's got planned! Watch this space for the report!
It's funny, I've started dating again...much less intensely than I was over summer of course...but I'm feeling a bit ambivalent about it all. I had a date on Monday night with a cute redhead and I enjoyed it, he was a good conversationalist, works for my favourite store (David Jones') and seems like a genuine guy. But I'm like...pfft! Even with C3, although he's very eager to see me again, and I'd like to as well, I'm still not feeling the intensity that he is. I suppose over the last month or so, I've been focussed on my friends, in particular Evan, McDreamy and Muzbot (and James and Jacqui of course, see them every day at work) and on building and reinforcing our friendships. And so dating has certainly been taking a back seat - more just an add-on than a major part of my life. I suppose after the experiences of May/June, I've become a little bit more cautious about throwing myself into a romance, of opening myself up to a guy I've just met, and retreated, to a degree, to the safety of friends. At the moment, I'm finding it much more rewarding emotionally to be with my friends and I've certainly done some serious opening up to them, which has been wonderful. They've been incredibly understanding and also proved themselves invaluable sources of information and advice. I started coming out just on a year ago now, but in many ways still feel new at this. I'm very comfortable with being gay, let me hasten to add, but there's still so much stuff that I don't know and so sometimes I feel a little bit of an amateur. Dunno, I'm probably just waffling here. :-) Let's move on shall we...
At the moment, I'm just waiting for James and Jacqui to finish their lunch and hopefully motivate themselves to accompany me to the Coffee and Chocolate Festival at the Rocks. I think these are probably the only things capable of warming me up on a day like this. (Well, naturally, a HOT guy would do the trick quite satisfactorily)
Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

The end of the week...
It's now 5.05pm Friday and I've had the laziest day! I took the day off as a reward for having such a hard June (and as it turns out July too). Dragged myself out of my toasty warm bed around 10.30am this morning, really wanting a coffee. But alas, I realized that I had an official doctor's appointment with McDreamy and he had told me not to eat or drink anything except water! arghhhhhh! Monty without his morning espresso makes for a very dopey man! Anyway, eventually made the trek across the city to "the Shire" where McDreamy practises his medicine, 15 mins late for my appointment. Thankfully, I was his last patient and so he was pretty chilled out about it. I jumped up on the couch, he sucked the blood outa me (which I did not watch, otherwise it would have been all over red rover for Monty) whilst chatting to me, trying (mostly sucessfully) to distract me. That over, we headed off to Cronulla for a yummy lunch overlooking the windswept beach and churning, crashing waves (and the spunky waiter was also most pleasant eye candy). Checked out his new love nest which is well, in need of the attentions of an interior designer...oh, that's right, Evan is one! he he! Actually, I do have to say, he only moved yesterday so he's still got lots of unpacking and sorting and tidying up to do, but once it is done, it'll look great! Look forward to many a weekend hanging out there with he and Evan (yes McDreamy, that's a hint for an invitation). :-)
Tonight, I'm hibernating at home sans alcohol. I had planned on reducing my alcohol intake this week, after the battering that my liver got last week, however things didn't quite go according to plan. Monday night, 4 glasses of wine and a beer with a rather cute redhead; Tuesday 3 glasses of wine at work at the end of the day; Wednesday night, 4 beers and a couple of vodkas (rather strong ones too) with my mate Muzbot; and last night, I attended my first ever Fruits in Suits gathering at Slide where I consumed another 5 or 6 glasses of wine (my memory is a little hazy on the specific number). So, tonight, dinner with a non-alcoholic beverage, a couple of dvd's, and it's off to bed for Monty! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Monty's going hairy...
Well, relatively anyway! That's right, I've decided to grow myself some facial hair. It's a week old now and quite dark, except for my upper lip where it's mostly blonde (strange mix). It's moved from being prickly to being kinda soft and it's kinda growing on me...I think. My very straight, but very metrosexual boss (married with two, NOT, I hasten to add, as if that any guarantee of anything - GIL and TomCat of Bondi can attest to that fact) says it looks great on me and my other colleagues and friends have reacted more with surprise - I've never really gone more than a couple of days without shaving.
But I'm actually liking this...not sure how it's going to impact on my love/dating life but hey, it's all about personality aint it! ha ha ha! I will actually take a photo and post it for your comments (hmmm, actually, dare I expose myself to the possibility of vilification or mockery???) - please be kind! :-)
Other than that, life at the moment is at full throttle!!! Work was supposed to die down after 30 June and instead, it's just got busier!!!! ARGHHHHHHH! Add the dating stuff this week (INSANE but I'm thinking of doing more postponing because I just can't keep up...I'm getting tooooo tired) and I'm just all over the place. Thank goodness I had the lovely relaxing weekend with Evan and McDreamy otherwise I would be out of my mind with stress!

A Weekend at Casa Del Monty...
Well, what a weekend! In fact, Good Weekend No 4 for your correspondent! 'twas a weekend full of gay moments, but also just full of good friends, plenty of laughs, lots of alcohol, and of course, much food!
As I mentioned in my previous post, it was just myself, Evan and McDreamy and we drove down in McDreamy's brand spanking new Graphite Toyota Corolla! In fact, he hadn't even filled the petrol tank it was so new! A pleasant drive down, ably helped by a SENSATIONAL soundtrack on McDreamy's ipod! The guy's taste in music is, well, excellent (mainly because it so closely reflects my taste in music) and so we were all singing along on the way down.
Once we arrived, the champagne corks were popping and we were starting to relax. In fact, we got so relaxed that we consumed 6 bottles of wine between us that night! My poor liver has had a tough few days, with Wednesday night's festivities, Thursday night's drinks with Muz, and the weekend just gone - think I will have to take pity on it and drink water for the next week...well, maybe the next day or so! he he he!
Saturday dawned sparkling with the promise of sunshine, blue skies and more fun! And it more than fulfilled the promise! The surf was cranking, the paparazzi were buzzing around McDreamy (well, Evan and me anyway) and come beer o'clock, the Rose was sliding down our collective throats rather well. One game of Upwords later, with me celebrating a mighty victory, the parrots started circling. It was around 3pm and by that stage, the Rose had hit all of us - and so, whilst feeding the birds, McDreamy got a Christ-complex with a twist. Picture this, McDreamy standing, arms outstretched with the birds feeding from his upturned palms, Superman singlet, Ugg boots, and very little else! Yes, that's right folks, you've heard it here first...fresh from scaring the fish in the Kimberlies with his naked underwater antics, McDreamy decided it was time to move on to the birdlife of the Shoalhaven! Though, to be honest, they didn't seem that scared...I think he was more than a little worried when they started sitting on the BBQ which was just at crotch height...methinks he was concerned his pecker might get a little pecked! Fortunately, no lasting injuries were sustained, except maybe for Evan's and my sides from splitting with laughter!

McDreamy also was celebrating some recent academic acheivements and brought his Pink Moet for us to consume, in of course, the gayest pink lily glasses! Thankfully, by this time, McDreamy had put his pants back on and we could much more enjoy the moment!
Dinner Saturday night was Monty's Famous Beer-up-the-bum Chicken, and another magnificent effort if I do say so myself! I love making it on weekends away, it's just so easy to do, and yummmmmy!
Sunday morning I was laying in that delicious somnolent state that you do at 9am, snug under my blankets, the sun streaming in, when, from the other bedroom, orgasmic groaning erupted...groaning worthy of the best porn DVD you've ever seen! Oh my! What was I to do??? So, I jumped in the shower, and hoped it would all be over by the time I got out. Thankfully, it was and the boys were up and busy assuring me that it was merely McDreamy doing his best porn star impersonation! Oh, and writing messages in the condensation on their window with his ummm, pecker! That guy can get very creative sometimes! Hilarious!
We drove back this arvo and I must say, what a splendid weekend! The weather was perfect, the company was even better! I got to chat one on one with both of them (seperately) which was excellent! I think I certainly got to know them better, we got to relax big time and they had their first entire weekend together! So it was good all round! Thanks guys! Can't wait for next time!

It's Friday already...
It's now 1pm Friday and I've left work for the day! Yay! I've left early so that we can get a headstart on the traffic and hopefully make good time down to the beach house. I really need this weekend away, and having Evan and McDreamy along is fantastic! Should be lots and lots of fun, plus I hope lots of sleeping in!
It's been an interesting week...inspired by one of my friends, I had organized a couple of dates, one for Wednesday night and one for Thursday night! I realized on Tuesday that I already had a dinner with friends arranged for Wednesday night, so had to postpone that date (with The Doctor) until next week. Wednesday night's dinner was rather large...lots of freeflowing wine (rather good wine too!) meant that Monty was a little worse for wear Thursday. Hence, I postponed the Thursday guy until next week too. The thing I'm a little trepidacious about is I've already booked a couple of dates next week, and now with this week's boys put back until next week, I'm kinda running out of available nights! argggghhhhhhh! Monty will be a busy boy next week methinks!
This actually worked out quite well, because I ended up catching up with Muzbot for dinner last night instead, and as always, it was a great night. You learn so much about a person when you are talking one on one, and I certainly think we've moved on from the "polite conversation" phase of our friendship! lol
So, the weekend is ahead and I'm excited. Hope everyone else has a good one too!

A Sundry Saturday post...
It's Saturday already and I can't believe how quickly the past week has flown by! Now that the financial year is over, traditionally things slow down and this was my fondest wish for this week. Not to be! It has been another very busy week at work! So, I thought I'd better treat myself and make an appointment with my hunky masseur for today.
And so, today I rocked up at 10.30am and felt all my stress dissolve beneath the magic that is my masseur's hands! It was another lovely session, but a little sad - he is in the process of moving over to London; leaving in two week's time. So, this was our last session together. Naturally, I have booked him for October when I will be back in London, but that's still 3 months away, and not exactly an ideal solution! Thankfully, he gave me a couple of numbers of friends of his that are masseurs as well, so I'll be taken care of. Which reminds me, if any of you London bloggers would like a FABULOUS massage from a hot Aussie guy, email me and I'll send you his details. He has to start working as soon as he gets there and so I'm sure he'd love an intant client list!
I drifted home, through the heavy traffic that is in Potts Point at the moment, thanks to the thousands of visitors turning up to check out the hot US Navy guys (oh, and their aircraft carrier) here for the weekend. A quick clean up around the apartment and a knock on my door. It was Evan and McDreamy, beaming smiles and lots of laughs! McDreamy had cut out a suspicious looking lesion on Evan's chest last week and it prompted me to think about my own skin. My dad is a red head with very fair skin and he goes every 6 months or so to the doctor to get examined and usually ends up with one or two small cancers being cut out or frozen off. I've unfortunately inherited the fair skin and have not had a check up for ages. So, McDreamy kindly made a housecall on me and checked me out. Thankfully, nothing to be concerned about...there's a couple of freckles that he suggested I keep an eye on, for any changes in colour or shape, but otherwise, nothing to worry about!
Sensational! Thanks McDreamy, by the way.
Thus relieved, we all toddled off down to Blues Point Rd for a lovely pasta lunch in the sun at one of the cafes there. I love sitting in the sun when it's cold...it just feels fantastic! We also discussed our little weekend away next weekend...I'm taking them down to the beach house on the South Coast. Granted, it's not exactly beach weather, but it's just so lovely and relaxing down there, plenty of food and wine, great conversation with good friends, lazy sleep ins, long walks on the beach. It promises to be another awesome weekend!
Tonight, I've received an invitation to Chez Muzbot for dinner - and he's cooking! After seeing the yummy recipe he posted earlier this week for his Moroccan Lamb, I'm chomping at the bit to experience his culinary skills! Should be another highly enjoyable night!

Muzbot, Evan and Dr McDreamy
I was struggling to find a title to this post, but really, this week has all been about Muzbot, Evan and his Dr McDreamy.
It's been one of those insane weeks, the final of the financial year. Monday and Tuesday, I got home from work mentally and physically fatigued! But by COB Wednesday, I had broken the back of it! And so, when Muz suggested meeting for a beer, I was ready! We actually ended up having a couple of beers, dinner and another excellent chat! Unfortunately, our conversation did not touch on PST pictures, otherwise I would've been, errrm, warmly encouraging him to up the ante with his pics! But apart from that, it was another sensational night with a guy who's becoming an awesome mate!
Thursday, I was pretty chilled and in fact, most of my colleagues left by 4.30pm...I lingered until 5pm and choofed off! And then I met up with my other great mate, Evan, for dinner and a chat! Naturally, a lot of the conversation centred on McDreamy, but it's lovely to see things progressing with those two! Evan is always a delight to be with; he's a first class human being and a great friend and always has time for me and my woes! Love him to pieces!
Friday came and went with relatively little fanfare...a flurry of last minute activity and it was over for FY06/07! And then the champagne corks popped and the drinks started flowing! Our team has a lot to celebrate - we had a record week this week and our team was Number 1 in NSW! So we did party! But, around 9.30pm, the tiredness hit me...and I was ready to go. We were in a restaurant in Kings Cross and so I left my colleagues and popped in to say hello to my friend Simon, the Sailing Penguin for half an hour. And that was lovely! He was very excited as he was waiting for his son to fly in for a week. And then, I went home! How very boring! But needed!
Saturday was spent at home mostly, as I was preparing for a dinner party - the attendees...Muzbot, Evan and Dr McDreamy! What a night!!! We managed to down 6 bottles of rather smashing red wine between the four of us, McDreamy became the 'massage-o-matic', (a sensational term coined by Muz) and the conversation flowed thick and fast! I have this one memory, toward the end of the night, after most (if not all) the alcohol had been consumed, where Muzbot was lying semi-prone on the couch, Evan was lying on my bed and McDreamy was shirtless in my entry-way! It was kinda hilarious at the time, as well as being kinda surreal. For Monty, Nirvana...3 HOT hairy guys in his apartment! FABULOUS!
But they all departed and I hit my bed with a vengeance. My apartment looked like a bomb had hit, but I didn't care! I was tired! BUT, it was a seriously excellent night, filled with laughter, good food (if I do say so myself), good wine and most importantly, good friends!
There were 4 rather sore heads this morning, but we all managed to get over that and I met up with Muz for a lazy coffee/tea/toast/hot chocolate. Another pleasant hour or two was spent "chewing the fat" before his mate Judo turned up and it was good to meet him as well.
Toddled home and washed up and washed up and washed up - just as I finished the last pot, a knock on my door...I opened it, and there was Evan and McDreamy standing grinning on my doorstep. So, more "chewing of the fat" with those two before we motored over to the movies to see "As It Is In Heaven" - a Swedish movie I had never heard of. BUT one of the best movies I have seen in a long time! It is simply a wonderful movie! Very moving, very emotional and inspiring. We all loved it! And I was happy that I got to watch it with two great guys!
So, it was really a week and weekend all about Muzbot, Evan and McDreamy! And what a week and weekend it's been! I had such a sensational time last weekend with Matt, but this weekend has been just as good (albeit, without any shagging). And I just can't help but think how fortunate I've been to have had two fabulous weekends in a row! I'm really enjoying life at the moment, enjoying consolidating my friendships with Evan and Muz and establishing a new friendship with McDreamy! Thanks guys!
