I'm back...

Hey there everyone! Yes, I'm back from holidays! How quickly time flies when you're doing nothing but relaxing on the beach, by the pool, on the lawn etc. We had a marvellous time up there - the resort itself was a little less than what we had hoped - the website photos don't appear to have been updated for some time as the resort itself was a little run-down. But still, that aside, it was wonderful to get away and spend some serious time with my gorgeous man McBrad.
Highlights include...
  • ...An unexpected upgrade of rental vehicle at the airport resulted in a silver convertible Astra! OK, so it wasn't a BMW Roadster or Porsche but still, it was a new convertible vehicle which was just the perfect method of transportation along the coast road betwix Cairns and Port Douglas. The only time the canopy was up was when it was parked!

...Wearing t-shirts and shorts the entire time...how good is it to be enjoying summer weather in the middle of winter! We had overnight temps around 20 degrees C and during the day it was about 26 - 28 degrees C. Marvellous!

...An early afternoon siesta cuddled in McBrad's arms. PERFECT BLISS!

  • ...Our morning routine - McBrad would arise at some ungodly hour, have breakfast at the resort restaurant, come back about 9:30, snuggle with me for 30 mins before kicking me out of bed. I'd then drive him into Port Douglas, he'd go to the gym for an hour while I read the paper in a cafe with a long black.

  • ...Fresh fish, straight off the reef, for dinner! Food was of a very good standard - just a little pricey when compared with Sydney.

  • ...Walking down the beach holding McBrad's hand; snogging him in the surf; his infectious delight with diving into the waves; lying next to him on the beach, in the sun, with just our fingers touching.

And as threatened, he went "clothing optional" on the beach - very difficult to keep my eyes off his gorgeous arse to be honest - and on the last day there, I bit the bullet and indulged in a small skinny dip myself! It was lots of fun actually, but I was still very very shy about it!

We also got to meet some nice people at the resort - we befriended an Irishman who was there for a couple of days by himself and he really appreciated that. He sent us a nice email after he left and invited us to visit him next time we're in Ireland - not sure when that will be but it was very kind of him. We also met two gay couples who also live in Sydney and hung out with them on a couple of nights, so we exchanged details and plan to get together in the next couple of weeks for dinner somewhere. So it was a very good mix of time together and a bit of social stuff.

I have come home from the holiday even more in love with him than ever!

I took this week off as well, just to stay home and get a few mundane things done - get the car serviced and re-registered, get an annual physical from the doctor, work on my DFP assignment, a bit of a "spring" clean of my apartment. And of course, just to relax. So it will be lovely.

Lucky you. The furthest north I got this past week was Canberra.

Ah, the Holden Ashtray - Jeremy Clarkson's favourite! What's it like to drive?

Glad you had a good time! :)

Sounds completely idyllic...

Welcome home, and good luck getting back into the swing of normal life. Although with BF with a cute butt that really can't be all that hard. Or can it.

I think I could cope with a winter house in the far north...
The location for your resort is great - but I think it's true , it could do with a makeover.

Glad you had a great time. I can't quite tell, is that a McBrad back we see in the second last pic?

Glad to hear you had such a relaxing time.

I'll be heading up to Port Douglas next weekend for 10 days. I'm really looking forward to it after reading what a great time you had. Hopefully, we'll get the same perfert weather you had.

Do you have any nice restaurants recommendation? BTW, which resort did you guys stay in if you don't mind me asking? We are going to be in Peppers Beach Club - looks really good on the website photos and hopefully it won't turn out to be run down when we get there in person.

Anyway, so happy to read about how good things are with McBrad.

Cheers, Ky

Ky, we drove past Peppers and it looked very nice. So enjoy! As for restaurants, we absolutely LOVED a place called The Lounge. Really good food, great service, lovely relaxed restaurant. Be prepared for prices that are higher than Sydney equivalents. Very few restaurants are BYO too. Have a great (and warm) time!!! :-)

Thank you Monty! You are a champ. We will definitely give The Lounge a try. Now I just need a bit of your luck and get our Toyota Corolla upgrade to a Holden Astra convertible for free. Finger cross. :)

Cheers, Ky

PS: Don't know if you have tried this place - Cafe Zimt on Crown St, Surry Hills - it's a great place for breakfast / brunch / lunch. Great food, very friendly service and the owner - Helga - he's very entertaining.
Give it a try!

Here goes...

Sugarcane on Reservoir St - This one is our new favourite - it's only been around for 6 weeks and we've been there 5 times already! Must try the Wagyu Beef Rendang Curry - superb.

And if you are feeling French, the following never fail to impress:
Le Pelican on Burke St - the menu changes weekly too!
Assiette on Albion St - I would go for the degustation menu.
Beluga on Burke St - the new kid on the block.
Tabou on Crown St - our old favourite - although the chef had recently left so don't know how the new chef is holding up.

Or if you are in the mood for some superb pasta - A Tavola on Victoria St, Darlinghurst - this one is pricey though but well worth it.

And for a winter treat - Bistrode on Burke St - must try the Wagyu Corned Beef.

If you are in the mood for a pizza - Pizza e Birra on Crown St - we like Pizza Gamberi for a bit of a spicy kick.

Finally, another great place for breakfast / brunch / lunch - Cafe Mint on Crown St - so many choices but only if you can get in as it's always packed!

Ok, that's just a few off the top of my head! lol. Happy restauranting with McBrad!

Cheers, Ky

All of the above plus Marque (fantastic but expensive as it's a three hatter) and Bill's (good for breakfast).

Your new abode is in restaurant central, another reason to move in with McBrad! :)
