Be prepared to be appalled by the following.
A flurry of late night texts last night led to me tearing across the city at 10pm enroute to McBrad's. Nothing new there. But you know that kinda zone you get into when driving somewhere familiar - you can kinda switch off and the car will just drive itself. Well, I had the radio on and I was in that zone. The station I was listening to was Mix 106.5 (wait, I haven't got to the REALLY appalling bit yet) and on comes Shania Twain singing "From This Moment On". Now I'm sure Shania is a lovely lady and yes, back in the early 90's, we all flirted with the pop/country thing (I even purchased "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" on CD) but "From This Moment On" always made me want to puke...it was such a pappy shmappy smarmy made-for-Westie/Bogan-wedding song, with all these lyrics about being "right beside you" and "you and I will never be apart" and "I give my hand to you" blah blah blah. Well anyway, it comes on and I find myself listening to the lyrics absentmindedly and I'm thinking how much I can relate to them and how they are expressing exactly how I feel about McBrad and then my mind wanders to thoughts of a wedding and...what the hell! I pull myself up, shocked and appalled that I'm actually relating to THAT song and that I'm even thinking about weddings! (and yes, you can now all gasp with dismay - we've now covered the really appalling aspects) I know I know, I had it coming, listening to Mix in the first place. And it was late at night, it had been about 14 hrs since I'd last seen McBrad and I was very excited to be on my way back to his place, with the promise of cuddles and snuggles...but it's still no excuse. I'm so ashamed! I mean, I've previously confessed to downloading Jason Donovan to my iPod but even that doesn't rank anywhere nearly as appalling as this.
Speaking of which (and our friend Tom will be delighted that I'm mentioning an Apple product), I did some more downloading today from iTunes - some more PSB, Shirley Bassey (love her version of Get This Party Started) and Justin Timberlake.
My car is now all mechanically done and, with the new tyres and brakes and stuff, is just marvellous! So my little holiday has been quite productive! :-)

Tuning in...
I have just discovered the joys of iTunes! Yes, that's right - 5 months after being given my iPod for Christmas, I finally ventured into the world of the iTunes store today and purchased my first song...and second song...and third...etc etc
Seriously, this is very addictive - I have been undertaking a journey of rediscovery of music from my past - and can see that this has all the potential to develop into a full-blown shopping habit! I just meandered from genre to genre, from artist to artist, year to year and it was marvellous! Why did I not get onto this sooner???
I've downloaded Jason Donovan (ok ok, so shoot me now), Colour Me Badd (ok, you really should shoot me now), Right Said Fred and East 17, among others. The depths of my musical low-brow-ness knows no end - the tackier, the cornier, the poppier the better! It's fabulous!

Music...and men...
I wandered over to Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday afternoon, following Single Guy's revelation that it's a happening place for cruising men! I thought it'd been interesting to see how it works in a shopping centre. Well, needless to say, I didn't see a lot of cruising happening...mind you, I did see some very fine looking gents, but couldn't see anyone even remotely practicing the art of cruising.
Anyway, in my wanderings around the shopping centre, I stopped off in a CD store...and bought myself two utterly fabulous CD's (yes, I'm one of those primitive sorts that still don't download music from i-Tunes to my i-Pod), which I've been playing ever since. The first one was (start cringing now) Spice Girls Greatest Hits - I love the Girls and have their first two albums...it's just meaningless pop but they do it so well! The second was Pet Shop Boys latest Dance 4. This is a truly awesome album - they've remixed some very diverse bands/artists including the Killers, RammStein, Yoko Ono, Madonna and of course, themselves. Some of the mixes are tub-thumpingly sensational, and the whole album is just one big dance party! I LOVE it!!!
That's the "music" part of this post...the other part..."men"!
I was walking from my place down to Nth Sydney this morning when around the corner jogs this shirtless, well built guy! As I continue walking towards him (with extra spring in my step), another shirtless, well built guy rounds the corner! It's then I realise, it's the Navy boys! You see, there's some kind of Navy base nearby - it's only a small one, for the Navy Seals or something - and every few weeks, they all go for a run around the area. The last time I saw them was before my holiday, and so it was still cool, and so they were all fully clothed. But today...most were shirtless and there's about 15 of them, all in good condition...all jogging towards me. Talk about eye-candy overload!!! YUMMMO! It was a MOST PLEASANT way to start the day!

Shopping...
Our main client management system has been up and down for the past two days, and today is mostly down. This means that apart from emailing to clients, answering their general questions, I am unable to do anything. None of us can. It's highly frustrating, sitting here watching the work pile up and being unable to do a damn thing about it!
So what's a boy to do in circumstances like this? Go shopping of course. Unfortunately my heart wasn't in it and so I wandered aimlessly through menswear in David Jones', with nothing really grabbing my attention. It's C3's birthday on Thursday and so I've decided to buy him (among other things) a CD of Philippe Jaroussky - this was the magnificent countertenor that we saw (and heard) on Saturday night! Could I find it? NO!
How frustrating...went to several different stores, including those mega-stores which seem to have every CD except for the one you're looking for. Even the specialist classical CD stores didn't have them, but finally, one did say that they've ordered more in and should have them in by Friday! It's a day late, but still...
So, my shopping today has been fruitless. But at least it killed some time. I think I might go home because it's pointless sitting here!
